it'd make sense were it not for the fact they'd got my name wrong, in true university of hip hop style, adding an extra letter to my surname. so i altered the name of the my documents folder to correct it.
then i realised that my name was wrong elsewhere on their systems and when i asked them to change them it, the second directory appeared.
Hmmm, baffled by this for a while but i've got a good theory, i reckon these 2 folders are held on seperate servers, maybe storage server and it uses distributed file system or something like it to put a copy of them on your H: drive. No definate answer though, this is really going to bug me until i can figure it out.
could be... the excuse we were given for our home directories not being available during the first term was that windows stupid naming convention [the space in "my documents"] presented all sorts of logistical problems for the university's unix servers.
