thanks to all you who wished me well with the exam. my performance was none too shabby, finished in 45 mins. then set out to enjoy the weather...
i rode over to clapton, took in the sights of the lea valley & springfield park then bimbled around the backstreets before tootling back via finsbury park.
just played around quickly with google maps and discovered it was a ride of some 17miles!

Jan. 31st, 2008 05:51 pmanyone who locks their bike up on the street should be worried by this bill...
in essence, it allows councils to remove locked bikes willy nilly with only the most cursory search for their owners.
and they say london's a cycle friendly city

bike dreams
Oct. 4th, 2007 11:15 amdreamt about riding my bike again last night.
i was turning circles to and fro around what appeared to be the grass inside of a running track. the weirdest thing was that in jeamland, direct drive has a lag to it... the resultant skids were pretty.
also in the dream i had an even larger chain ring on the crankset and a means of hopping the chain from the normal one to this "overdrive" one. 40 mph on a bike, even in a dream, is a scary speed to be going.

Sep. 19th, 2007 04:09 pmi knocked a man down today.
he walked straight into the side of me as i shot through finsbury park bus station. the collision almost unseated me and sent him spinning to the floor like a rag doll.
he made a high pitched girly noise as he tumbled groundwards, which for a 6ft plus black man was kinda weird.
i didn't stop [late for work] but did have time to shout "jesus mate, look where you're bloody going" before i raced across the empty junction as the green men was vanishing.
in all the heat of the moment i totally forgot it was talk like a pirate day... shoulda shouted something suitably piratical really

fleshy pads...
Aug. 21st, 2007 04:02 pmso, a full 24hrs has passed since my exam, and i still can't feel the tips of my thumb, index and middle finger... this is worse than the playstation thumb i got from playing tony hawks at spoox's place.
i wonder if i can sue :/
still, it's lovely and damp outside; a nice sheen of water lies glistening on the busy london streets. it seems only fitting that today, with this most inauspicious weather, is the day i get the fixietron back from being repaired.
there's a very real chance this may be the last livejournal entry i make :]

derailment
Jul. 27th, 2007 01:25 amnearly died today.
the bike i've been borrowing from my good friend james literally tried to kill me.
i was riding along. at newington green i went over a speed hump and the metal of the dérailleur decided to absolve itself of any responsibility for maintaining basic structural rigidity and flung itself into my rear wheel like some kind of make shift grappling hook.
this stopped me almost instantaneously in what some hack from the local papers might have described as "yet another goth thwarted comically in pathetic suicide attempt" were there not so many stabbings, rapes and burglaries in the area.
the cars behind me shrieked to a halt and i picked myself and the now unridable bicycle up off the tarmac and sheepishly got out of the road as fast as my little legs would carry me.
gonna have to take the offending machine to a bike shop to get ripped off tomorrow.
still, i haven't felt this alive in ages.
