am quietly confident about it... hopefully it won't prove to be unfounded

Good luck chum! It is a mistake to be quiet about one's confidence, if only for the reason that nothing disturbs the other people taking an exam like some chap with a massive grin on his face that knows all the answers. Their failure will make you look even better.
