does anyone know how to fix problems the $Mft file on NTFS drives? one of my HDs has gone kaput and i
really don't fancy trying to replace 1TB of music, films & tv :/
have tried chkdsk but it's useless,
testdisk reports both the $Mft and its mirror are b0rked... and i'm at my wits' end

It also has a link for using an Ubuntu disk (freely downloadable or I can post you a copy) to restore the HD to its former glory.
