sometimes people do something that breaks through the defenses of even the most thoroughly desensitised and jaded cynical individuals.
for the first time since in years i was witness to something that was shocking.
september the eleventh has for these last five years been a day of celebration and reflection. the plane meets building thing, whilst truly one of the great images of our life time i will for once leave alone.

[artists impression of dominic]
my night was tempered by dominic's[1] beating at the hands (and feet) of the salubriously opposed green lanes locals lusting after large portions of what i can only imagine they'd convince themselves was their part of the jihad against the same sex orientated who frequent the area.
the street was soaked in blood, the crowd that quickly gathered around the scene rubber necked in typical english fashion and did their level best to obstruct anything being done.
anna, in true fashion, set everything aside and tended to the hapless head injured indivdual bleeding and moaning on the street.
the first and quickest of police turned up, seemingly "unbothered" by the semi-conscious victim on the street, he sucked down the dregs of his can of diet coke as he spoke his words of authority.
eventually the ambulance turned up and after about 20 minutes took the poor chap off to hospital.
it took 5 minutes on hold to get through to an ambulance and nearly 6 times that time again before any response from the authorities was seen.
[1] the chap that got the shoeing
if only this guy was around maybe i wouldn't need to a visit to stoke police station to give my statement later on today.
