the only good thing about macbooks

is that thanks to what i can only describe as the rather strange decision made by apple to include an onboard motion sensor in their trendy little machines, and the hard work of a friend of a friend, you can do this to them :D



and 'cos i'm feeling somewhat expansive today...

The (very boring) reason they do that is so they can write whatever is stored in the page file at that point to solid state memory, the theory is if you ever drop it from a damaging height you won't lose any data. Personally i think they just did it because they could and cos people would f*ck around with it like this.

it's apple... of course they did! you know what they're like: too much attention payed to form and nowhere near enough time spent on function.

there's no need for it to sensitive to the particular orientation of the device if it's purpose is solely to detect when the machine might potentially have been dropped in order to preserve data. a simple mercury switch would have sufficed.

personally id say style and substance over affordability.. but it'd probably start a debate so i wont
